Barrett Collects Second engage Award

Wigan’s Trent Barrett has been named the engage Player of the Month for May. Barrett is the first player to win the accolade twice this season, previously claiming the same award for his performances in March.

May proved to be a disappointing month in the league for the Warriors losing heavily to St Helens in Cardiff and narrowly being defeated at home versus Hull KR. Barrett did pick up a try against the Robins that day and sparked a second half come back that unfortunately came too late.

A week later, however, Barrett really caught the eye with Hull FC in opposition. With the score at 2-16 after 32 minutes Barrett bagged a brace of tries to set the Warriors on an unstoppable role - the final score 47-16.

Regarding the award Barrett said,
"It is certainly nice to win but there’s probably a lot of players who could have won it, I’m just happy we’re winning some games - just got to keep going. The win against Hull, to come from behind the way we did and to pile on so many points in the second half was a big game for us".

Barrett added, "I can only play well when the team’s doing well. I rely on a fair few people in our team so you can’t win these sorts of things without them, so it’s thanks to them".
