Sharp reaps reward for flawless April

Jon Sharp is April’s engage Coach of the Month - ironic to think that weeks earlier the Giants had lost seven games in a row.

Members of the Rugby League media voted overwhelming for the man who has guided his Giants side to a club record winning run and an immaculate month.

There had been no moaning about the busy Easter programme at the Galpharm Stadium. The Giants emphatically won 6 from 6 in April, tallying up 271 points in the process, with just 82 conceded. Stand out performances included home wins against Wakefield, Wigan and Harlequins where they surpassed 40 points in each.

Sharp proved his Giants were no fools on the 1st April by finally breaking their losing streak in the Challenge Cup against York City Knights. That result kick started the season and led to a winning run firing them from rock bottom of the engage Super League table to the heady heights of the top six!
  
“We’ve always believed in what we are doing”, said Sharp, “There has been no change from week one.”

“Even when there were people calling for my head, we knew all the losses were narrow and we were always getting better. It’s all about trust. The players trusting the coach and the coach trusting the players in that what we are doing is right.

Sharp added, “It’s also a massive contribution when we have key personnel in tremendous form - we hope we can now keep the momentum going.”
